The big news for the Google product I’ve been supporting since 2019 – Google Meet– is that the language functionalities include the Bulgarian language now (in Beta)!!! WAW!
I didn’t expect I would live to experience this, honestly. My native language is a mother tongue to a relatively small group of about 7 mln people. Thanks to the Google Meet team for including the languages of nationalities with small populations! Read the spoken words via the subtitles for best clarity and understanding. When participants have accessibility issues turn on reading the subtitles and when there are technical issues with the audio in the virtual meeting as well. You can save captions and translate to other languages.
This functionality makes the virtual meetings with Google Meet in the Bulgarian language with much larger scope. International participants can feel comfortable attending online events and conferences where the Speakers are talking in Bulgarian. People in disparity can expand their communications in the Bulgarian language. Healthcare situations can offer patient’s support. Family members from mixed nationalities can communicate more easily.

- Nina Trankova and Svetlana Stavreva are demonstrating the automated translation available in Beta with Google Meet Translate Captions feature. From the setting while in Google Meet select Captions and choose the language you want the automated translation to display for the participants in a virtual Meet meeting. In the present demo it’s the Spanish language.

Translated captions in Google Meet will be available exclusively to Duet AI for Google Workspace Enterprise add-on users at a future date. We will provide a minimum of 6 months notice to existing Google Workspace customers before this change takes place.
