The EU Electronic Privacy Proposal Regulation Awareness
ePrivacy
The America Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria and Dobrev&LyutskanovLawFirm Lyuben Todev and Gergana Ilieva have organized a workshop to raise awareness and start a discussion about the ePrivacy Regulation Proposal.
Businesses and end users are welcome to contact Dobrev&LyutskanovLawFirm or send their comments by email to AmCham in Bulgaria.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to be part of the event and to listen to different viewpoints. My take away is that businesses are in need of basic education about personal data and privacy before any regulations and legislation get imposed on them.

I’ve been impressed by the title of the event “Digital Market Under Legislative Fire – ePrivacy Regulation Proposal” It’s likely David Amerland’s influence through #TheSniperMind thinking has something to do with it, I haven’t asked the speakers though. It’s true what participants in the discussion shared that legislative taxes under the proposal are huge and even one tax would kill a significant number of the businesses in South East Europe which barely survived the change of systems and crises.
Update 24th August by IAPP
ePrivacy extremely unlikely to come into effect until 2020 at the earliest.

Another aspect to address is the vertical regulations by governments and EU institutions that have been practiced for a very long time. It’s a challenge to change to new horizontal multi-stakeholder approach. To understand how the multistakeholder approach works you can check events, global initiatives, University teaching, and recent writer’s book into “Innovation Business Trend Events: here:
