Misinformation Fight
Realities and facts of the war in Ukraine are hitting a credibility barrier. How could this be resolved?
As state resources lost credibility, within a very short time the covid related infodemia (missinformation) got “upgraded” with fact disintegration.
Identifying desinformation became harder. The missinformation experience is undermining societies and systems far beyond the territories of Russia and Ukraine.
I trust Google being the global leader information company with new tools helping all of us in this unfortunate missinformation experience.
Looking forward to see how the new tools are going to work:
- New Info Panels in local languages
- Transparency labels for publisher content on YouTube
- Cash grants for fact-checking
- Automated video captions translation on mobile in Ukrainian language

Google Protection Helping Ukraine via Credible Information
The price of information in times of war and disaster is human life. Online information needs to reach people fleeing the war in Ukraine through all online platforms and without restrictions on registrations and profiles. Currently, those people who are already on the territory of Bulgaria turn for help most often through Facebook groups. This is how the support of the volunteers is organized. If a person has reasons not to register on Facebook, they cannot receive every help they need.
At the same time, Google content works for everyone and on any device. People can get up-to-date information directly and instantly on Search.
Google gives priority to publications in support of refugees from Ukraine.
All verified accounts can publish for free on Google Maps and Search, announcing the aid they are giving away to refugees. Accomodation comes first and that’s where Google is adding the New Atributes option for hotels. Using the New Atributes hotels can add their free or discounted accomodation in support to the people fleeing from the war.
All verified locations can post about humanitarian aid, transport, food, distribution of clothing, free legal advice, jobs, consulting, medicine, volunteering and more. Similar to the Covid-19 stream, Google will prioritize this content for refugees.
