There is great deal of reflection on G+ platform, in terms of tracking your goals and building your authority. One example are comments on the thread of posts and events. When you engage on the thread, you share your thoughts, you influence the converastion and in this way during events it is even possible that you might receive a surprising invite to join the panel, live.
Even after a while, when any of the participants drops a comment on the same thread you have been engaging, the notification shows you the new interaction immediately.
So, remember with this G+ tip that every comment is an indication of the interests you have and one way to go is use this as an advantage to claim and persist with your expert comments and participation in discussions.
