Last week I attended the conference “Women In Technical Communication” by invite of Sofita and Sofia Yotova from Vmware.
I was immediately relaxed by the presence of both young ladies and gentlemen at the site of the event. I felt a bit concerned when I first heard the name “Women In Technical Communication”, since I’m not a believer in separate gender business gatherings.
The event experience was a leap in future to me, for the speech I have not yet delivered myself. That was an extraordinary feeling, as far as I connect emotionally to my past business experience while others share theirs, until I heard these speeches. The recent research on time might be a good explanation about it though.
“We do not encode time in absolute terms. It highly depends on an individual’s emotional state and context. When we feel pleasure and progress as a result of an activity, we barely notice time”, check the article The Illusion of Time
The inspirational talks that influenced my time perception were four, each one utterly unforgettable. The ladies delivered very straightforward messages about their personal professional alignment. Story telling was a key element. Even with the format of presentation and time frame, the context of every message resonated on a very personal level for the context of our recent turbulences in society and economy affected the culture of generations.
The most important is the inner self awareness of strength and personal leadership every speaker nailed for themselves.
For businesses that thrive in a web environment, meeting face to face to shout out the very human standpoint of professional choice, energy and knowledge involved and commitment to high results is a really strong action motivation. I’m fascinated from the discovery that such an event is happening in Sofia, Bulgaria and thankful to the event organizers. I hope to attend more events of the kind.
