a very solid update, swift, smooth and more capable. Nothing to dislike about this one :).
Nina Trankova says
The engine has been learning how you navigate: IMHO, without tagging friends and always on topic?!
I’m impressed how related topics come at one level, mind blowing! It’s real useful support to users to scroll Communities and pages. I can’t yet see the big change while exploring Collections.
Mike Koontz says
I am still not going to use search all that often, I like just dipping my toe in the big stream of the people I follow. But the searches I have tested today in regards to both writing, publishing and nature photography have turned out real good. I like that it shows you both “topics” and people, collections and communities, taking a complete and related piece of the pie that has meaningful content related to the search, packaging and presenting it in a properly useful way.
Now we just need google to take a look at how they pick some of their topics.
The “writing and publishing” topic right now seem cherry picked to be very much made up of people that only write pieces about how real writers should write their stories and books and articles, and very few real writers that actually publish written content on g+ gets to be included.
Which is both funny and mildly irritating to me :).
Nina Trankova says
It is irritating! Hope that improves with more writers writing on G+.
I’m sure Google brain rank known the difference between chatting and writing.
Mike Koontz says
Absolutely, I just think that at times the fact that google makes it fortunes as a gigantic knowledge aggregator shines through in how it values some aspects of their rankings and topics. As is the case with “writing and publishing” right now, talking about the knowledge of writing becomes more important to google than those that actually write.
A well, its an ongoing process, and g+ is improving in a nice way for sure :).
