Newton of Political Economy
the influence of Adam Smith today
In “The Economist Asks” broadcast edition on Adam Smith there’s a ton of valuable information, from the restored house of Adam Smith to the relevance of his ideas and work. I recommend listening to this edition as I find it to be a standard of what we should expect for quality journalism nowadays.
Here are just a few of my notes
Very few people who write about Adam Smith have read about him. What links all Smith’s is the idea of exchange:
– exchange market
– exchange value
– exchange of ideas of language
– exchange of social conventions
……
Adam Smith’s house is been restored under a 10-year project to become again a centre of debate for world’ thinkers.

“Wealth of Nations” and “The Theory of Moral Sentiment” make the influence of Adam Smith relevant today, including technology and contemporary issues, moral phycology and internet platforms.

Daniel Börresen (Oedlan) says
Nina Trankova Newton was also somewhat involved in the economics of his time

Interesting, I’m sure I replied to your comment Daniel Börresen but can’t see my reply now 😎

So what I was telling was that “The Newton” comparison was used by the journalist ( I simply picked that part to make a point here) for the major area of specialisation, while Newton himself dedicated his work in priority of other scientific areas but not economics.
Hope this makes sense Daniel Börresen I love listening to the radio with my mini:)
