Leave Behind Burnout
shift of influence
We have been talking today during our “Reflection of Love 2017/ Same time each year* live online conversation about balance, information overload and
our personal commitment to stay with balance along 2017.
It will take me time to put out the notes from the conversation, yet it seems we have been touching the very question of the day with information overload, headlines society – Alex’s definition and Focus to One Thing Done best practice from Stan Bush
Is it realistic for corporations to leave behind burnout any time soon Alex Simidchiev.?
Alex is a physician and technology futurist and burnout is his expertise. Follow him on G+ and connect on Linkedin
I would also ask the digital strategist Stan Bush how would “get to sleep” cause influence our online activity, since such a scaled mission will certainly impact the way people behave now or later?

Well, this title is a good example, IMHO of part of the problem. I don’t read Huffington post, or Bloomberg anymore… because they are basically marketing arms, disguised as news. However, because you recommended it to me, and the way ‘influence’ works, I spent 12 minutes watching it. It’s really a 12 minute video pushing her ideas, including an ad for her little phone bed and a new platform she wants to sell. Is the phone bed ‘cute’. Sure. Will it help you ‘end burnout’. Not a chance. She’s using her influence to get her message out. The videos core message really doesn’t have anything to do with ‘ending the burnout epidemic.” In fact, it adds to it. Click bait title to a stream of useless drivel about nothing of importance. At least not to me. My experience is that she’s never said anything I couldn’t get by reading “Highlight” magazine…or maybe a Dr. Seuss book.
She’s an excellent marketer though, because she recognizes the way ‘influence’ works. I wouldn’t walk across the street to listen to her.. but I spent 12 minutes of my life based on a recommendation from a trusted source… you.
Which circles back to the point Alex made concerning ‘relevant’ tags yesterday. We can add all the relevant tags we want…but a recommendation from a trusted source has a higher level of influence than a tag. So I would watch something…even though it was tagged as irrelevant to me, if recommended within my sphere of influence.
There are all sorts of other things at play here concerning the way semantics, connectivity, and implicit knowledge works. And she knows that.. but she doesn’t accept it’s long term results. Because, in the end… I will probably never ever ever listen to her drone on about stuff again.. ever. Which means she’ll have to find another route to me other than you. The twelve minutes turned into 30…and I won’t allow her that much time again. Regardless of her global influence, she’s useless to me.
You on the other hand, still have personal influence over things I look at and read. Honestly, Arianna’s goal is to use that influence to increase her own, while diluting yours.
So.. those tags are going to be a real struggle, and I’m sure they will help.. but not be a complete solution.

I have my “ignore button” setup and rarely anything finds a work around. This message was one I was waiting for. I choose to think that the shift of influence might be the beginning of a real change and for my choice I recommended listening. Thank you for your trust! You know I’m an Insight graduate and Arianna Huffington is an Insight graduate too. I’m influenced before hearing what she had to say and you are exactly right about influence “diluting”. Kiril I has invited me to assist Insight I, taking part in February and I’m excited to reconnect. So it circles to my personal experience on a tiny transformation, that I know has happened, “a grain”. I should add the influence of our children that have their different influences, that are not exactly related to what we know. At the end, what I believed would be my entire life ( communist total control) changed finally! With science and technology enlightening the road, why not have a bigger scale of a better human being? Stan, what I’m glad is that we are on the same page and most of all, you didn’t ask me to start sleeping..haha!( because the campaign says so)

I’d like to add another 15 min worth listening to , since it’s about a lot of related things and about balance. For this one I trusted the expertise of Zoltan Buzady. I enjoyed the video and would like to hear what you think, balance wise?https://plus.google.com/+ZoltánBuzádydr/posts/D6i7JMcB5CH

I made a comment. Google Plus decided to send me off to another part of the Internet…losing the comment. So I’ll just say the Simon video was worth watching,

Stan Bush #WhatStanSaid Thank you. Sorry to hear about the comment. I sent a feedback since it happened to my comment here as well.
That video resonates to our conversation. It was such an entertaining thing to watch! I’m curious to hear Zoltan’s insights on it.

If burnout was easy to solve, it would not be a global epidemic… Ultimately, it is not (only) about the stress ( which b.t.w. can also be positive and stimulating) but about the distress in an emotionally laden situation or low engagement or lack of leadership. Burnout is multifaceted and there is no one simple fix.
