I have met Dr. Dimitriadis at IBM conference for Southeast countries earlier in May this year. After his presentation, received with great interest and applaud, Dr. Dimitriadis was kind to accept my invitation and answer a few questions. We started talking about the practical steps along the challenging transformation of company management.
At the outstanding event, IBM SEE Business connect the PR and marketing department had organized a very special and curious gesture: personal transformation Forbes page. It is a message to every individual in the brain centric economy, Dr. Nikolaos is talking about: everyone should be on top of their own best mindset, their personal leader, in a way. Dr. Dimitriadis furthermore concludes what is the organizer’s message to the attendee.
Let’s start from a company with traditional management. How does management transform into the new brain centric approach?
Such a company should model various aspects of the changes. The company should engage more with transformative changes. Rational brain understands by clear and precise explanation. It needs the right amount of information and data.
Emotions are personal. Here is where homo economic model loses the battle. Emotion is not one sole thing, it’s personal for each of the individuals.
The transformation process is open for great leadership to take place. Leaders can start with small things by establishing a process for creating a new environment. In this new environment, relations can be bounding by support activities, what every person can do for others.
How can we change the words? Do we need new wording for brain centric communication?
Actually, words cannot be decoded. Change by words cannot push action, like sending emails with imperative messages will do no good. Leaders need a holistic approach.
How can we prove metrics for brain centric communication in business?
We can prove with results. We can work for a new mindset and have the right mindset for a certain leadership and team collaboration.
Can we summarize that business leaders need training in order to understand the brain centric approach and its benefits for better business results?
Yes. A more in-depth understanding will be the best way for business leaders to start the transformation changes.
The transformation is so profound that we cannot any more confine in the old management. The old style of management is not only not working very well, but it is destructive, it creates the opposite than what we are aiming for. This is the viewpoint, by which I try to explain things and also the way I help managers, leaders, corporations to redefine the position of human beings in their management system and achieve more.
The conference organizers had this great idea in collaboration with Forbes to ask people to take a picture and then they placed the person’s picture or a group of people on the front cover of Forbes and a great headline and would print or mail to people.
Somewhere along the line old management forgot people…… Old management was about maximizing the system.
If we are to have the new model, and humans are the biggest asset you have, you need to switch many things you do, from mindset to daily behaviors. What they did with Forbes at the Conference was I think within this new understanding of human beings. Each one of us within in companies is a star or a potential star. Because the only thing that companies have is people.
In the front page is not the system, it’s not even the product, it’s not even the company. It’s you as a human being with all your capacity to innovate, renovate, disrupt what you do in order to make sure that the company will survive.
There is no system, no machine, there is support from machines there is support from a fantastic system, but it supports. At the end of the day, it will be up to people.
Making sure that people understand this, that they are the stars, rock stars of their company is a unique moment, a fantastic moment. I think this is what they tried to do and it worked very well.
